In this talk, Alan Silman, Professor of Medicine at Oxford University and art historian, considers the life of Henri Matisse (1869–1965) and his lifelong struggles with physical and psychological health while surviving two world wars. Professor Silman will reveal how Matisse coped with or even used these personal challenges to achieve so much.
