Illuminating Art - From Lampshades to Landmarks - A Designer's Journey. A talk by Dan Maier FRSA FSDC.
Whose designs, created in a studio in Southgate, have been seen everywhere from cruise liners and theatres to national retailers and on the London Underground? You may have spotted her work in the Midland Grand Hotel, St Pancras, on stage at the Old Vic, the National Theatre or the O2, or you may even have one of her lighting designs in your home. The answer is Dan Maier and you will have an opportunity to hear her speak at our July meeting.

If you don't yet know Dan Maier and her business Extraordinary Design, you'll surely know some of her work and possibly have trodden on it - it was Dan who designed the colourful pedestrian crossing at Southgate Circus, and brightened up windows at Southgate Station, Southgate Library and at the Southgate Club in Chase Side.
Dan will be telling her story at our July meeting with the title Illuminating Art - From Lampshades to Landmarks - A Designer’s Journey, starting with "a light bulb moment that sparked a decade designing lighting followed by a daring leap into the world of public art". Dan will illustrate her talk with many slides of her work. Please note that Dan will talk for 1 hour and 15 minutes, which is a little longer than usual, but we want to make the most of this opportunity to hear her speak.
As always, visitors are welcome so please do invite your friends.
