Play Reading 1

Status:Active, open to new members
Convener:
When: on Thursday afternoons
Last Thursday monthly
Venue: Private Home

We meet once a month on the last Thursday at 1:30pm in each other's homes or gardens!

Plays read depend slightly on what is available to borrow from the library. We have been trying to read plays that are going to be on in London so that we have a better understanding when we go to the theatre. So we read Lorca's Yerma before going to see it at the Young Vic; it had been completely rewritten, which made it even more fascinating.

The group is a member of the Hertfordshire Performing Arts Library in Welwyn Garden City which makes available a much wider choice than Enfield but does charge £4 per month per set, so there may be some cost at times.

We tend to meet, read the first few acts of the play, pause for tea and discussion, then carry on to the end with more discussion. We normally finish somewhere about 4pm.

Some readers have previous Am Dram experience, but others not. You get to know people very quickly through reading together and we always have a good time!
